The objective of this assignment is to deliver sexual and reproductive health (SRH) awareness sessions will be provided to attendees. Presented to women and teenage girls separately, these sessions will present accurate information and allow women and girls to ask questions in a comfortable environment.
These will encourage participants to speak openly on sexual and reproductive health including menstruation, family planning, and use of contraceptives. They will also be used to introduce the available medical services in Cairo and Alexandria for SGBV survivors, particularly in relation to the medical consequences associated with sexual and physical violence, and the 72-hour time frame for responding to rape incidents. the project tends to decrease the Early Marriage rates between the refugee Communities especially Syrians. In order to combat this trend, 7-day early marriage training will be carried out for Syrian and host communities’ women and teenage girls Health awareness session that will cover reproductive health, in addition to explaining how women can deal with their children during puberty and teenage years. The medical consequences of early marriage will then be highlighted in order to emphasize that early marriage is a violation of women’s rights.
In order to monitor the sessions, pre- and post- surveys will be carried out, measuring attendees’ knowledge on gender-based violence, family planning, contraceptives, and available services.
Note:
Expected flexibility and availability to finish all sessions before the end of the task in December 2023. Consultant/s are expected to work in Cairo and Alexandria.
Cairo refers to Greater Cairo areas, and Alexandria could include delta and north coast governorates.
Scope of Work and Deliverables:
The consultant’s main deliverables are:
- The consultant shall provide 16 Health awareness sessions: 10 in Cairo (6 for women, 4 for teenage girls) and 6 in Alexandria (3 for women 3 for teenage girls) to reach in total 400 beneficiaries Women and adolescent girls from refugees, asylum seekers and host communities at Cairo and Alexandria
- The consultant shall provide material with the content of the SRH awareness sessions. Content must be appropriate for women and teenage girls and it should be discussed with the project’s team and approved by CARE before conducting the sessions.
- The consultant shall provide pre and post surveys measuring change in participants’ knowledge in the content delivered must be appropriate for women, men and teenage girls and boys. Pre and post surveys should be approved by CARE before conducting the sessions.
- The consultant shall Provide 2 reports on (15th of August and 15th of December 2023) documenting the process and results of the intervention. . Reports must include individual and collective results of pre and post surveys conducted measuring the change in attendees’ knowledge towards SRH and medical consequences of FGM and child marriage.
- Kindly note that due to unstable COVID -19 pandemic situation, workshops might be fully or partially online if needed.
